Car ‘drifter’ tries to run over police, flees

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 3: Police are looking for an unidentified young man believed to be a Kuwaiti for allegedly attempting to run over a policeman when the securitymen went to investigate a complaint in Fintas, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, when police arrived at the spot they saw the suspect driving his sports car recklessly and endangering the lives of other road users and himself.

When police stopped the man and ordered him to show his ID and driving licence, the motorist stepped on the gas pedal and attempted to run over a police officer and escaped.

The security sources said police did not chase him according the instructions given by the senior officials of the Ministry of Interior not to chase suspects, to prevent injuries during chase, but to note down the car plate number and other details. It is believed the details of the car and the suspect have been circulated to all police patrols
