KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: In an unprecedented move, Lawyer Mohammad Al-Ansari filed a lawsuit against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh and Chairman of Kuwait Investment Authority, requesting the cancelation of the decision to withdraw billions of dinars from the Incoming Generations Reserve Fund.

He alleged that the budget deficit resulted from the government’s failure to plan well due to which this government does not have right to dip its hands into that fund. Lawyer Al-Ansari declared that he filed the case as a parent who was shocked to hear on Jan 10 that the Minister of Finance issued an administrative decision to withdraw KD 3 billion from the fund along with the KD 2 billion and other amounts that were withdrawn in the past to cover the budget deficit.

He regarded the minister’s action as waste of the funds saved for the incoming generations due to which he felt obliged to sue the concerned officials for the cancelation of the violation. Lawyer Al-Ansari affirmed that he is interested in the case because his children who are minors are among the youths for whom the money was saved. He urged the court to consider the case as a matter of urgency to prevent the second defendant from withdrawing from the fund.
