KUWAIT CITY, March 27: The Philippine Embassy has updated recently the list of offices and agencies accredited for the recruitment of Filipino workers in Kuwait – professionals and domestic workers, reports Al-Qabas daily. The list includes 174 out of 420 offices and agencies that obtained licenses to operate in the recruitment field.

The daily obtained a copy of the list, which consists of 41.4 percent of the total number of recruitment offices in the country. In addition, the embassy issued a circular warning against dealing with unaccredited persons or offices that hire workers from the Philippines.

Meanwhile, sources from the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) confirmed that it is cooperating with the Ministry of Interior to track down fake recruitment offices; which advertise specialized employment to provide home services for the elderly and children. Sources stressed that workers hired through fake recruitment offices have either violated the Residency Law or involved in absconding cases.

Also, sources disclosed that Ethiopia intends to sign an agreement for the recruitment of domestic workers with Kuwait. Sources expect the official announcement on the signing of the agreement any day this month. Sources said the agreement stipulates the monthly salary of workers and results of their training in accredited centers in Ethiopia before entering Kuwait.
