KUWAIT CITY, May 30: In a communique circulated to the cooperative societies regarding working hours during the partial curfew, Chairperson of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies Fahad Al-Enezi explained that consumers will not be able to enter the cooperative societies and supply branches without obtaining prior reservation and barcode via the website designated by Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Al-Enezi addressed the cooperative societies regarding the working hours inside the super markets and the supply branches during the partial curfew period. He declared that the working hours will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 midnight, and that customers can only have access after reservation via the website.

He added that necessary measures have been taken into account in the new areas that are isolated - Farwaniya, Khaitan, Nugra, Maidan Hawally and Hawally — where the supermarkets will operate round the clock.

Meanwhile, parallel markets will be able to operate between 6:00 am to 5:30 pm local-time prior to the partial curfew, said the Kuwaiti Municipality Saturday. The policy will begin as of Sunday, May 31, indicated a municipality press release.

Similar establishments will be operating 24 hours in areas under full lockdown, it added. Recently, the Kuwaiti government had issued a five-stage plan to bring back some sense of normalcy in the country as part of the measures countering coronavirus (COVID-19) spread. Each stage will take weeks to fulfill and the authorities will determine whether to proceed with easing restrictions according to the developing situation.
