KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has completed the interrogations with the Romanian, who was caught and detained for interrogation for allegedly attempting to install a device to copy customers’ data from the ATM machine of a local bank, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source familiar with the case of the Romanian, the suspect is in his 50s and is said to have admitted that he came to Kuwait last Thursday and was to leave the country this week after completing his mission – being able to read and copy the data of as many ATM cards as possible along with the secret numbers through a camera located within the slide which he installed in a number of ATM machines. He added he was planning to install more devices in several ATMs to enable him to read all customer data and stressed his mission was specific in Kuwait.

He pointed out if things went as planned he could systematically rob the customers’ money within minutes and the bank or the customer would not be able to do anything. He added, he works for a global organization that operates through the Internet. The suspect was arrested while he was attempting to install a microchip in the same slot where an ATM is inserted to withdraw or deposit the money.
