People bullied by running fake accounts

KUWAIT CITY, May 20: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) raided a basement of a building in Jahra and arrested two bedoun, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, documents show the place was rented as a coffee shop, but was used to spread rumors and a haven for bullying others. The security sources said 13 other people, all of whom are believed to be bedoun and are in police custody, used the place to promote rumors. The sources added, investigations are underway to find out who financed the activity and what the motives are.

The source said due to the seriousness of what the suspects were doing, all legal measures were taken before the raid including obtaining the search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution. Whatever was found on the premises has been seized by the security authorities including advanced broadcasting equipment hidden in the basement. Ministry of Interior has issued a statement saying the Anti- Cybercrime Department of the Criminal Security Sector has managed to arrest a number of suspects of what it called ‘undetermined nationalities’ for running fake accounts to bully wellknown personalities, spreading rumors, soiling the dignity of some people and striking at national unity. The Directorate General of Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry said the raiding party discovered the place was divided into 50 cubicles and found in the possession of the suspects display devices computers and a large number of storage memory chips.
