KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Saturday exchanged cables of congratulations with heads of Arab and friendly countries on the advent of the New Year, wishing their countries stability, peace and prosperity. In another development, His Highness the Amir on Sunday sent a cable of congratulations to the new UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on taking the helm at the global organization. His Highness the Amir wished Guterres success in his high profile post, carrying on with work to achieve all the UN’s elevated goals, as well as handling the issues facing the organization, especially what is related to international peace and security, humanitarian efforts and development, in addition to further disseminating principles of justice and equality among countries. His Highness the Amir reiterated Kuwait’s unwavering stance in support of the UN and the organization’s efforts to realize security, stability, prosperity and sustainable development around the globe. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables of congratulations to Guterres. Meanwhile, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, received on Sunday Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Sheikh Sabah Khaled conveyed, during the meeting with the Saudi Monarch, a verbal message from His Highness the Amir on means of boosting the close bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. His Highness the Amir’s message also dealt with overall regional and international developments. Sheikh Sabah Khaled arrived in Riyadh, earlier on Sunday. He was received at King Khaled International Airport by the Saudi Minister of State for External Affairs Dr Nizar Bin Obaid Madani, the State of Kuwait Ambassador to the Kingdom Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and an envoy from the Royal Protocol.
