Al-Turaqi wins bronze at ISSF Presidents Cup

Al-Otaib becomes exec bureau member

CAIRO, Dec 3: Kuwait’s shooter Talal Al-Turaqi won a bronze medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Presidents Cup. Speaking to KUNA in a statement on the sidelines of the event, Al- Turaqi, ranked the world’s best third shooter at ‘Trap’ contest, said this uneasy achievement was the result of great efforts. He indicated that he was chosen among the best 12 best shooters across the globe due to great efforts he made during 2022, adding that he has won several international medals this year. He said “we eye gaining more medals at the next championships, especially the Olympic medal in Paris”.

He said he would like to dedicate the medal to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister and his government as well as Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and all those who supported him. Meanwhile, head of Egyptian and African shooting federations Hazem Hosni told KUNA in a similar statement that Al-Turaqi’s bronze is a source of pride for Kuwait and all Arab countries.

Choosing Al-Turaqi to be among the best 12 shooters in the world was based on the international points and medals he gained during 2022, Hosni said. Making Al-Turaqi as a champion came due to continued work of an integrated group headed by Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of Kuwaiti and Arab shooting federations, who is making great efforts for the success of Kuwait’s shooting, Honsi said, congratulating Kuwait on this accomplishment. Meanwhile,President of Kuwaiti and Arab shooting federations Duaij Al-Otaibi has won membership of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) executive bureau during elections held on the sidelines of the ISSF general assembly.(KUNA)
