KUWAIT CITY, May 19: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Criminal Court which refrained from punishing five members of a Syrian family for allegedly obtaining fake Bahraini citizenship after they changed their status from Bedoun to Bahraini.

The court also suspended the appeal submitted by Public Prosecution against one of the suspects until completion of the appeal submitted by the latter against the sentence issued against him in absentia over allegations of holding fake Bahraini citizenship. Investigations revealed that the suspects are originally Syrian citizens and they reached an agreement with an unidentified individual and used fake documents to obtain Bahraini passports and national ID cards.
