4 Ghanian expats held with fake currency

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: Four Ghanaian expatriates were arrested in possession of counterfeit currencies of $700,000 and KD 70,000. According to security sources, when Criminal Investigations Department received a tipoff in this regard, a security team was formed for investigations.

During the investigation process, they sent an undercover agent to the suspects to purchase forged currency from them. The agent reached an agreement with the suspects for the purchase of $100,000 at a cost of KD 15,000. After reaching the agreed location for the transaction, the suspects were arrested.

Securitymen searched their flat and found forged currencies worth $700,000 and KD 70,000. During interrogations, the suspects confessed that they came to Kuwait through visit visa issued by a company.

They were referred with the confiscated counterfeit money to the Public Prosection. Necessary steps were taken to summon the owner of the company that issued visit visas to the suspects to determine the level of involvement of the company owner.
