KUWAIT CITY, July 16: Public Authority for Manpower has issued decision No. 70/2017, which stipulates that maximum validity of work permit should be three years, and they can be renewed six months before their date of expiry.

According to the spokesperson of the authority and Director of Public Relations and Media Aseel Al-Mezyad, the authority issued the decision to regulate the private and oil sectors.

Applications for renewal of work permits can be submitted less than six months prior to their expiry at the concerned labor department.

They should be accompanied with valid travel document, copy of the previous work permit and copy of the civil ID card.

Other documents required are original or copy of the job contract containing information specified in the private labor law No. 6/2010.

This is in addition to an application form signed by the employer or the authorized person, the stipulated fees and other relevant documents.

Al-Mezyad explained that this decision allows applicants to apply for renewal of work permits within a relatively long period, considering the previous decision which allowed submission of applications only about three months prior to the expiry date.
