KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by a lower court, which acquitted two Kuwaiti citizens who were accused of broadcasting false news, reports Al-Anba daily.

The court also overturned a suspended verdict of one-year imprisonment with hard labor issued against the two citizens who were convicted of managing unlicensed accounts from the Ministry of Information. The court instead imposed a fine of KD 2,000.

The court had ruled that the defendants were innocent on the charge of broadcasting false news during the COVID-19 crisis.
