152 Filipino residence violators sent back to Philippines

1,539 Filipinos deported this year

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: In an humanitarian gesture the Ministry of Interior completed the procedure of deporting 160 Filipinos from these 152 women and 7 men and an infant in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Philippines Embassy in Kuwait. 

Two days ago, the deportation process was completed as an aircraft was sent from the Philippines to carry 160 Filipinos in addition to about 200 women who were present in the Philippines Embassy accommodation building, reports Al Rai. The Ministry of Interior under instruction of the Minister of Interior  Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Lieutenant-General Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf, and the Undersecretary of Correctional Institutions, Major General Talal Marafi. health care and food were provided during their entire stay in the deportation center. 


The Philippines government’s interest in evicting its citizens was remarkable. The Deputy Director of the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Department, Arnell Ignacio arrived on the plane. Philippine Ambassador H E Mohamed Noureddine Lomondot, and the labor attaché at the embassy, Nasser Mustafa expressed their thanks to Kuwait.   Arnell Ignacio  stated ” We thank the Kuwaiti government and the Ministry of Interior for this gift that was presented to our nationals who violate the residency law and for facilitating the procedures for their deportation and their return to their country at this particular time. We cannot forget this humanitarian gesture to allow the deported women to spend the New Year’s holiday with their family members in the Philippines. This gesture of the Kuwaiti authorities indicates the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries, and will positively reflect on the future of cooperation in the labor field. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Kuwait.”


Ambassador Lumendot said, “I would like to thank the Kuwaiti authorities, represented by the Department of Dimensions in the Ministry of Interior, for the grant they provided to the expelled members of our community, in terms of allowing them to leave before the end of the year to spend the holidays with their families in the Philippines.”

Philippine Ambassador H E Mohamed Noureddine Lomondot said ” I would like to thank the Kuwaiti authorities, represented by various departments in the Ministry of Interior, for the grant they provided to the expelled members of our community, in terms of allowing them to leave before the end of the year to spend the holidays with their families in the Philippines. This step was a gift to them and their families” He concluded by thanking the Deportation Department for taking special care of women throughout their stay there.


 From the beginning of this year until mid Dec 2021, 1,539 Filipinos including 1,425 females and 114 males have been deported for violating residence law.  The Ministry of Interior in its fight against visa trading and residence violators, those who have been caught have been fingerprinted and have banned them from entering Kuwait ever again.
