KUWAIT CITY, July 7: The General Traffic Department cancelled 14,600 driving licenses of expats and were blocked from renewing their license after they had changed their professions. They were not entitled to hold a driving license. Currently there are 1,575,000 million driving license holders in Kuwait. From which 670,000 are Kuwaitis, 850,000 are Expats, 30,000 Bedouns and 25,000 Gulf Citizens. Total number of vehicles registered in the traffic department is 300,000.

the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for the Traffic Sector, Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, gave instructions to traffic officers not to be lenient and ensures that everyone adheres to rules of granting and withdrawal of licenses whenever the license holder looses one of the condition on which the license was granted. Expat students are granted license on humanitarian grounds who are enrolled in colleges and universities but unfortunately after their studies they don’t handover their license back, reports Al Rai. The Traffic department blocks their driving license and considers it as void. They are not allowed to use it and whoever is caught will be deported for violating the laws of the country.
