KUWAIT CITY, Dec 17, (KUNA): The world all-star football team have expressed joy in visiting Kuwait and taking part in the friendly match against Kuwait national football team on Friday as part of celebrating the official opening of Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

The team made its remarks Thursday during a press conference held by the event’s organizing committee with participation of Italian coach Fabio Capello, Luis Figo, a former Portuguese professional footballer, Alessandro Nesta, a former Italian professional footballer, and Mohammad Ibrahim, coach of the Kuwaiti team, in addition to Kuwaiti players Mohammad Jeragh and Fahad Al-Ansari.

“I’m very happy about my first ever visit to Kuwait on the occasion of this spectacular celebration, and meeting with an elite group of world class footballers, some of whom I worked with in the past,” Capello said in the conference.

For his part, Figo said that being in the country during the opening festival is a “historic moment”, expressing his happiness towards his fourth visit to Kuwait and seeing the many friends he made.

Lining up world-renowned players in one list is a good thing for the Kuwaiti audience, who is an avid football lover, especially since such an event is rarely held, he noted, expressing his hope to see the Kuwaiti spectators filling up Jaber Stadium seats to witness this historic festival.

Meanwhile, coach Ibrahim felt honored to be chosen by the organizing committee to lead the Kuwaiti team in this historic festival against world football superstars, noting that his team will be using the attacking tactic in the match.

He also stressed the importance of attending the event and be part of the country’s national festival of this massive sports monument and facility which carries the name of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
