Women on visit visa caught for flesh trade

KUWAIT CITY, March 28: Personnel from Residence Affairs Department apprehended 38 people from different nationalities in a recent campaign against residency and labor law violators.

Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry stated the Residence Affairs Department received information about a flat in Hawalli area used for sheltering domestic workers (visa 20 holders) after they’re incited to run away from their sponsors to engage in illicit activities for money. Guarded by search and arrest warrant, detectives raided the flat and arrested the suspects who confessed to all charges during interrogation.

Also, the officers arrested four people from different nationalities for running a bogus domestic recruitment office to cheat citizens and expatriates. While checking their details, the officers discovered all four individuals escaped from their sponsors and were involved in various cases.

Meanwhile, the officers arrested an Asian woman for running a brothel along with four women who entered the country on visit visas and another woman on work visa. Public Relations and Security Media Department affirmed intensive campaigns will continue in all parts of Kuwait to curb lawlessness and guarantee safety and security of the general public.
