Why wait till end of 2020, end services of 400 expats immediately

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Ministry of  Public Works stated that the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Dr. Rana Al-Faris, is about to sign a statement of terminating the services of all expats of the ministry. This list includes up to 400 employees from different departments of the ministry.  Earlier services of 150 employees were terminated in the first batch.

The sources indicated that the names included in the list were working in administrative and legal positions, in addition to some names who worked in the technical department. The Minister Al-Faris intended to terminate the services of all expatriate employees to replace them with Kuwaiti nationals.

She stated that it was planned to end the services of expats who number in the Ministry of Works and the Public Authority for Roads up to 550 employees in batches, so that the last batch would be completed before the end of the current year, but the Minister decided to terminate the services of all expatriate immediately.
The percentage of all expats in the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Roads Authority does not exceed 5 percent of the total employees of the ministry. The Minister Al-Fares seeks to train all its affiliates, to replace the national elements to bear responsibility in the coming years.
