US Embassy recruiting delegation for SelectUSA Investment Summit

Event to be held from June 20-22

KUWAIT CITY, May 8: The US Embassy is leading a delegation from Kuwait to the fifth annual SelectUSA Investment Summit June 20-22 in Washington, DC.

The Summit is a high-profile event that connects international companies and US economic development organizations (EDOs) facilitating business investment in the United States. The theme for the 2018 Investment Summit is “Invest Here. Grow Here. Succeed Here.” Attendees will hear from government and industry leaders about opportunities in key sectors including infrastructure, energy, and advanced manufacturing.

“The SelectUSA Investment Summit is the single best venue for global companies to discover how tax reform, regulatory reduction, and other pro-growth Trump Administration policies have made the United States an even more attractive destination for business investment,” said US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

The three-day event will include dozens of seminar sessions on different aspects of investment, an exhibition hall full of economic development organizations and service providers that support investors, and an online matchmaking tool to facilitate new business connections. There will also be ample opportunity for networking. Past Investment Summit participants announced more than $71 billion of new investment projects in the United States from 2013 to 2017.

The previous four Summits attracted thousands of international investors, with the 2017 summit alone attracting more than 3,000 investors from 64 countries. “The SelectUSA Investment Summit will connect Kuwaiti business leaders to the information, business locations, and key officials necessary to start or deepen the discussion on investing in the United States,” said US Ambassador to Kuwait Lawrence R. Silverman. “I hope that any company that has considered expanding in the United States considers joining the delegation to the Investment Summit. There is no more worthwhile event for global business leaders.” With over $3.7 trillion of investment, the United States is the largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world.
