US Embassy issues 41,000 visa to applicants in 2015: Pilman – 6 pc of applications dismissed due to lack of adequate data

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Consul General at the US Embassy in Kuwait Sara Pilman disclosed that the embassy issued 41,000 visas to applicants in 2015, reports Al-Qabas daily. She pointed out that 80 percent of visas issued were for Kuwaitis, and none-Kuwaitis represented 20 percent.

She pointed out that the rate of visa approval by the embassy went up by 13 percent in 2014 and 2015 respectively, compared to previous years. She also said the rate of acceptance of visa applications reached 85 percent, whereby 90 percent of applicants got the visa after one week of interview with the consular official, and 95 percent were Kuwaitis.

The US Consul General also said 6 percent of the applications were dismissed due to lack of adequate data. She stressed the embassy deals with applications according to the type of visa required, regardless of the nationality of applicants, which includes illegal residents (Bedoun).

She added the Consular Section issued 4300 study visas in 2015 and 90 percent of the applicants were Kuwaiti students constituting 115 percent of the figure for the preceding year. She added 12,000 Kuwaiti students are currently studying in the US, indicating Kuwait is currently ranked 16th from 21st place in 2014 among the countries whose nationals are studying in the US
