UN migration mission in Kuwait distributes 4,000 protection kits

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: The United Nations International Organization for Migration in Kuwait, in partnership with the Society for Social Work, volunteers in the society, and the non-profit ‘ReFood’ Foundation, distributed personal protection kits to more than 4,000 expatriate workers. The distribution process included several areas in the governorates of Kuwait, in addition to the migrant workers accommodation center of the Public Authority for Manpower.

For his part, the head of the United Nations IOM in Kuwait, Mazen Abu Al-Hassan, stressed in a press statement, the effectiveness of commitment to personal protective equipment and physical distancing in preventing infection with the Covid- 19 virus for everyone, especially expatriate workers who work in an environment exposed to the risk of infection with the virus, and to encourage everyone to do their part by adhering to safety equipment to reduce the risk of infection with the virus and transmission among community members.

Abu Al-Hassan said he is proud of the United Nations IOM in Kuwait for its successful partnership with the government and private sectors, NGOs and civil society organizations. He pointed out that this support from various parties enables the mission to respond to the needs of expatriate workers more efficiently and effectively. Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Dr Mubarak Al-Azmi, appreciated the continuous cooperation with the United Nations Migration Mission in Kuwait and stressed the keenness of the ‘workforce’ to adhere to all health standards in an effort to limit the spread of ‘Covid-19’.
