Twist in cop’s beating by brothers case


KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: The case of a military officer who was assaulted by a Kuwaiti citizen and his friend in Umm Al-Haiman area has become complicated after three brothers of the motorist were accused of attacking a member of the backup force, reports Al- Anba daily.

According to security sources, a traffic officer accused three brothers of the motorist of assaulting him while he was bundling the motorist into the police car. Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Mahmoud Al-Dousari and Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Fahad Al-Shuwae visited the traffic officer Lance Corporal Mohammed Al-Mutairi who sustained a fracture in his foot when a vehicle slid backwards and ran over it.

They visited him in Adan Hospital to check on his health as well as to convey greetings from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah.

Meanwhile, The motorist whose vehicle went over the foot of a traffic officer in Umm Al- Haiman area has been arrested, reports Al-Rai daily. According to security sources, the traffic officer had stopped the motorist for violating the traffic rules. However, the suspect jumped out of his car and ran home, leaving his car behind and in an operating state. The car began moving backwards as the officer was approaching to check, and it ran over the officer’s foot, fracturing it.
