Three buildings on verge of falling down in Mirqab – Owners warned

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: Head of Emergency Team at the Capital Municipality Branch Zaid Al-Enezi revealed that owners of three buildings on the verge of falling down in Mirqab area have requested grace period to enable them secure authorization to demolish the property.

Al-Enezi noted the team following activation of Article 32 of the Ministerial Decision No. 206/2009 regulating construction work mandates property owners to notify about the decision to demolish or renovate kit, saying the owners of concerned properties have officially asked for grace period to enable them secure authorization for demolishing and reconstructing their property.

“Article 32 stipulates that Kuwait Municipality should notify owners and occupants of dilapidated buildings regarding the decision for demolition or renovation, indicating a specific period within which the building should be vacated”, he noted.

It also stipulates that occupants should vacate the buildings within the specified time, and the owner should demolish and renovate it depending on the situation within the said period. Upon failure to do the needful, Kuwait Municipality should act accordingly to get a refund of expenses borne during the procedures, the article stated. (Al-Anba daily)
