Swine flu kills girl

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 21: A 20-year-old Kuwait girl suffering from the swine flu (H1N1) died inside Al-Adan Hospital making her the first casualty of 2016 registered by the Ministry of Health, reports Al-Qabas daily. Informed sources told the daily the deceased was suffering from concomitant diseases and that she had been admitted to the hospital Dec 20, 2015. She underwent medical tests and the results proved she was infected with the swine flu (or seasonal flu, a definition given by the World Health Organization recently), before her health suddenly deteriorated.

The sources pointed out that the rate of seasonal flu in Kuwait is still in accordance with the normal rates globally, according to studies and statistics issued by the World Health Organization. The health sources pointed out vaccinations are available in at the preventive health centers and some primary health care centers in various parts of the country. A Ministry of Health official noted that the ministry has increased the vaccines for flu from 100,000 to 140,000 asserting the need to take precautionary measures.
