Sri Lankan mugged; Fake cop robs Asians

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: An unknown individual waylaid a Sri Lankan expatriate, beat him and robbed him of his mobile in Farwaniya area, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, the victim went to Farwaniya Police Station and explained that a man in casual wear walked towards him and requested for the use of his mobile phone to contact his friend. When he refused to give the suspect the mobile phone, the latter started beating him and then took the mobile phone and ran away. The victim provided securitymen with description of the suspect, using which securitymen launched investigations to find and arrest him. Meanwhile, three Asian expatriates caught a Syrian expatriate in the act of stealing a gas cylinder from their apartment in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. After they reported to securitymen about the theft attempt, the latter rushed to the location and arrested the suspect. He was referred to the police station of the area for necessary legal action.

Fake cop robs Asians: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested for impersonating police and robbing Asians of their cell phones and money, reports Al-Anba daily. Five police stations had received several complaints from victims. An Ahmadi police patrol team saw the impersonator checking the civil IDs of expatriates. They chased and seized him when he ran away after noticing the police approach him.
