Set up centre to treat people with ‘violent’ nature

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The head of the Family Center for Social and Psychological Counseling Dr Amthal Al-Huwaila has stressed on violence calling it an old world phenomenon which dates back to the beginning of human history, reports Al-Qabas daily.

She said, Kuwait should have been the least violent for several reasons. Its society is Islamic and conservative, and has been chosen by the world community as country of humanity. She added the social networking websites have become a means to spread news and images of violent crimes which are being committed in societies among all segments. Most of such crimes occur, she said, because of the abuse of beliefs or false beliefs or mental illness, even within the confines of one family for unreasonable reasons.

She pointed out confronting violence in all its forms is a societal and national responsibility. This should be done at family level, through the school and relevant institutions in the state, such as the media and the Awqaf and Islamic institutions. She called for the establishment of a specialized center to ‘treat’ violent persons in the country taking into consideration their psychological and social situations.
