KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: Residency permits are cancelled daily despite the availability of online services and the decision to allow the renewal of work and residency permits for foreign workers who are stranded abroad due to the corona pandemic, lockdown, airport closure and difficulty of returning to Kuwait, reports Al-Qabas daily. The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) released a statistical report on Friday stating that the residency permits of 935 foreign workers stranded abroad have been cancelled over the last 10 days due to the failure of their sponsors or companies to renew their work permits.

According to the statistics, the number of residency permits canceled since the launching of the new ‘Ashl’ system on Jan 12 reached 2,716 for several reasons — 197 due to death and 1,584 who left the country for good; while the work permits of about 30,000 expatriates were renewed.
