KUWAIT CITY, April 26: The Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) recently discussed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the recruitment of Ethiopian domestic workers with Deputy Director of the Manpower Protection Sector at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) Dr Mubarak Al-Jafour, reports Al-Jarida daily. KUDLO Chairman Khaled Al-Dakhnan told the daily that they are now in the process of finalizing approval of items in the MoU, which will be returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs next week to complete procedures for the recruitment of workers from Addis Ababa. “Once approval is obtained from the ministry, we will start the procedures for bringing Ethiopian workers to Kuwait.

It is important as well to make room for the recruitment of domestic workers from several countries, instead of two or three countries only. Allowing the recruitment of Ethiopian workers balances the domestic labor market as it addresses the shortage of workers in Kuwait, especially since the cost of hiring Ethiopian workers and their salaries are low; such that they do not add to the burdens of citizens and expatriates,” Al-Dakhnan added.
