KUWAIT CITY, June 9: Personnel from the Sentences Enforcement Department raided at dawn the Diwaniya of Sheikh Athbi Al-Fahd in Abu Husseiniya and after they failed to find him there, they went to his house in Al-Bida’a, and surrounded it for one hour but failed to find him, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Athbi Al-Fahd Al-Sabah, the former head of Kuwait’s National Security Office and the nephew of the country’s current ruler is wanted by law to serve a five-year term. He is one of the three members of the Kuwaiti ruling family who have been handed five-year prison sentences for insulting judges over WhatsApp.

The royals were sentenced on May 30 alongside four other co-defendants who are accused of insulting Kuwait’s His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Details of WhatsApp messages obtained by the court show the men were planning to publish anonymous posts on Twitter about fabricated videos of judges receiving bribe.
