KUWAIT, March 27: A passenger aircraft boarding Kuwaitis who were in Spain flew back to Kuwait on Friday as part of the state "air bridge" to bring back nationals abroad amid spread of the coronavirus, the civil aviation authority announced.

The flight that brought back citizens who were in Barcelona and Malaga was part of the first phase of the state plan to repatriate citizens abroad in light of spread of the contagious disease, said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in a statement.

Kuwait International Airport received on Thursday three flights boarding Kuwaitis from Frankfurt, London and Abu Dhabi, a day after arrival of three flights from Beirut, Cairo and Bahrain.
The repatriation operation is due to proceed till Sunday. (KUNA)
