KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: An unidentified patient at the Amiri Hospital has been detained inside his ward for assaulting the Director of the hospital Dr Ali Al-Alanda, reports Al-Rai daily.

A medical source said the patient is being treated from a contagious disease and he allegedly left his room and headed straight to the office of Dr Alanda and asked for medicine which can be given only upon strict recommendation and to be monitored by doctors.

The doctor explained to the patient the drug is dangerous and must be prescribed under the supervision of a doctor. However, the patient was not convinced and insisted on getting the medicine and when Dr Alanda turned down his request, he hit the doctor on the hand with a baton which he was hiding behind him.

The investigator of the hospital has filed a case against the patient. Doctors at the hospital have requested Minister of Health, Dr Jamal Al Harbi to protect them from assaults. And, a bedoun patient, whose identity has not been given, is using the social media to get admitted to the Farwaniya Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily quoting hospital sources said, the bedoun after being discharged from hospital after fully recovering from his illness, posted old pictures on the social media and claims he has been discharged without being fully treated. Director of Farwaniya Hospital, Dr Hani Al-Mutairi said the pictures which are posted on the social media are old.

He added, the health of the bedoun has improved and when doctors recommended his discharge after 18 months in hospital, he posted the old photographs. Dr Al-Mutairi added every person has the right to receive care and be treated, but a hospital is not a hotel or permanent accommodation because there are others who need treatment and beds.
