Almost 98 pc of people in Kuwait use InternetKUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: Revenues of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) in the 2017/2018 fiscal year exceeded KD 54 million, reports Al-Rai daily. In a press release, the Vice-Director for Human Resources and Financial Affairs at the authority Eng Khuloud Al-Shihab explained that the authority collected fees worth KD 54,638,324 for completion of transactions since April 1, 2017.The authority is no longer dependant on the state budget, as it has become a source of income for the state. She revealed that there are charges for making any correction to work permits, adding that, “In case the error occurred due to the mistake of the employees of the authority, the charges will be refunded in accordance with the specified procedures”.Eng Al-Shihab indicated the dire need to establish an automated electronic interface with Egypt in order to rectify the labor market and tackle the demographic misbalance in Kuwait. She explained that the process of establishing the interface is ongoing smoothly.The second stage has already finished with the training of the employees of Ministry of Manpower in Egypt and installing necessary systems there.They are now waiting to input the data of Egyptian laborers who are seeking to work in Kuwait in order to test the system and then launch the third and final stage.In addition, Eng Al-Shihab indicated about agreements in the near future for the approval of the professional skills measures at the official body for professional accreditation in India in order to identify the skill levels required from Indian laborers who are seeking to work in Kuwait.Meanwhile, almost 98 percent of the population in Kuwait, including citizens and expatriates, use the Internet, reports Al-Qabas daily.According to the annual report issued by Hootsuite Company, which is specialized in social media management, 4,100,000 people in Kuwait use the Internet, and 3.1 million people (about 74 percent of the total population) use mobile phones. The number of active mobile SIM cards in the country is 7.4 million, which is 178 percent of the total population. The number of Internet users increased by 23 percent compared to January 2017.The number of active SIM cards has reduced by about five percent. More than four million people in Kuwait use Facebook.The number of individuals who use social media has increased by 37 percent. Among them, 32 percent are women and 68 percent are men. The number of Instagram users in Kuwait is 1.6 million, which is 38 percent of the total population.The rate of female users of Instagram is 38 percent and the rate of male users is 62 percent. Furthermore, the Interior Ministry issued a decision on the termination of several expatriate employees as part of the replacement plan that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has requested from all ministries, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the decision covers expatriate professionals and ordinary employees assigned at the borders. Sources said the ministry will evaluate the appointment files of its expatriate staff and it is expected to prepare another list of expatriates for termination.
