Not at work but taking salaries

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: In two different cases, the Court of Appeals obliged 100 employees of the Ministry of Electricity (MEW) to pay the equivalent of the salaries they received during the period they forged fingerprints and did not report for work, even though they returned such salaries after the Public Prosecution conducted investigations, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Investigations revealed that some of the defendants were outside the country and others registered the fingerprint attendance on their behalf by making a plastic fingerprint for them. The court issued such a ruling, because the defendants committed a crime regarded as misappropriation of public money.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution ordered the detention of six individuals, including two Kuwaitis and a Syrian who passed the high school exams, for involvement in money laundering, reports Al-Rai daily. During interrogation, these individuals denied the accusation, stressing that the exams are available on the Internet. In another development, the State Audit Bureau (SAB) has announced vacancies for Kuwaitis in the control and information technology sectors, reports Al-Jarida daily.
