Exports to Arab states rises to KD 125.4m

KUWAIT CITY, April 22: A recent report issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, a copy of which has been obtained by the Al-Anba daily, showed that the total volume of Kuwaiti exports (non-oil) to countries of the world during 2018 was about KD 207.7 million, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the report, the Kuwaiti exports to the Gulf countries from the beginning of September to the end of 2018 was about KD 38.9 million, which included various exports: glass bottles, gas oil, fuel oil, caustic soda husks, white sulfur solvent white, sodium chloride, aerosol products and liquids, wool and glass fibers, iron angles, iron bridges, glass plates, alkyd plastics, raw materials for the manufacture of dyes, polypropylene (plastic granules), metal doors and accessories.

At the same time, Kuwaiti exports to Arab countries rose from KD 77.8 million in 2017 to 125.4 million in 2018, an increase of 61 percent, while Kuwaiti exports to foreign countries decreased from KD 54.1 million in 2017 to $43.3 million a decrease of 20%. Egypt topped the list of Arab countries in terms of imports from Kuwait with exports worth KD 80.1 million, including crude oil, wool and glass fiber, caustic soda husks, plastic granules, followed by the Republic of Iraq with exports worth KD 18.7 million, then the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with exports worth KD 9.6 million. In terms of foreign countries importing from Kuwait, Italy topped the list with Kuwaiti exports worth KD 11.1 million, which included polyethylene, silicone, caustic soda, diethylene glycol, then came Belgium with exports of 8.1 million and Turkey with exports worth KD 7.5 million. Kuwait exports its products to 52 countries around the world, including 5 Gulf states, 13 Arab countries and 34 foreign countries.

The list of Arab countries includes Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, Palestine, Mauritania and Syria. The list of foreign countries includes: Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Spain, France, Portugal, Lithuania, Slovenia, Greece, Poland, Cyprus, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Britain, Guinea, Liberia, Vietnam, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Ghana, Australia, India, America, Mauritania, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Benin, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Reunion Island and Germany.

Certificates of origin: On the other hand, the list of certificates of origin issued by the countries of the world showed an increase in the number and value of certificates issued during 2018, with the number of certificates of origin increasing from 6,730 certificates in 2017 worth KD 131.8 million to 8,278 certificates in 2018 worth KD 207.7 million.
