KUWAIT CITY, April 9: Ministry of Health stipulates that doctors practising medicine outside the ministry must relinquish their supervision tasks to avoid delaying the work in the ministry’s utilities, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily quoting reliable sources indicated the ministry requires doctors occupying positions like head of section, supervisor and director to work full time to be able to manage the responsibilities they shoulder, indicating the doctors who practise outside their official responsibilities in the ministry are unable to manage their jobs appropriately, which negatively affect the services provided to citizens and expatriates.

Meanwhile, psychiatric consultant Nadia Al-Khalidi says anxiety and depression are the two main causes for psychiatric problems in the society, reports Al-Shahed daily. She explained that movies and TV series have put wrong values in the minds of children and youths and caused them to suffer from psychiatric problems. Schools do not teach the children to control their anger during conflicts. Better qualified and trained teachers are needed to ensure students do not suffer from psychiatric problems. Al-Khalidi stressed that all who visit psychiatric doctors are not “mad”, and that people need psychiatric doctors just like they need any other kind of doctors, affirming that the best way to get rid of anxiety and depression is meditation and relaxation.

Regarding the spread of violence in the society particularly among the youth, she revealed that movies and TV series play a huge role in this aspect because they convey negative messages which can evoke violence among people.

In order to solve the problems related to violence in the society, she said the abilities of the youths must be redirected so that they can realize great achievements which will give them self confidence. Al-Khalidi affirmed that technology can play a major role in developing the educational process but it also has some negative implications.

She stressed the importance of education in ensuring talented and qualified youths are able to enter the field of business and contribute to the development of the country. Meanwhile, Al-Khalidi expressed pride over being honored recently, thanking Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah for it.
