KUWAIT CITY, Sept 13: Health sector officials affirmed that the local indicators of coronavirus have been stable and there is no reason to worry about students returning to schools by the end of September or the beginning of October, reports Al-Qabas daily. These officials confirmed that the Corona indicators continue to improve, considering the daily infection rate is only 3.6 percent of the number of swab tests. They stressed the need to “continue following the health regulations, such as frequent washing of hands and avoiding contact with those exhibiting Corona symptoms.”

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of daily infections reached 39 on Sept 3; while there are only two patients in the wards designated for those infected with Covid-19 in public hospitals and eight in the intensive care units (ICUs).

The recovery rate reached 99.6 percent and no death due to complications from the virus has been recorded since Aug 13. On the percentage of people who got vaccinated, sources confirmed a noticeable decrease in vaccination demand recently for various reasons; such as the improvement of the epidemiological situation and decrease in the rate of recorded infection compared to the number of swab tests conducted daily. Sources said this is addition to the departure of a large number of families to spend their summer vacation abroad from the beginning of June until the beginning of September.

Sources added the number of those who got the first dose of the Corona vaccine from April to September reached 26,000; while those who got the second dose exceeded 43,000. This increases the percentage of vaccinated individuals from 83.9 percent of the population eligible for vaccination to 85 percent, and about 187,000 people got the third and fourth doses within this period. Moreover, sources attributed the steady demand for vaccines in the last five months, especially the booster dose, to the increase in health awareness among the people.
