KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: A source from the educational sector denied the reports about the COVID-19 outbreak in a large number of schools, departments of educational zones and some departments in the Ministry of Education building, insisting that the number of cases in all educational institutions are limited, reports Al-Rai daily. He explained that the process followed is similar to that in other government and private agencies, where the infected cases are handled in accordance with the guidelines set by the health authorities. The infected person is placed under quarantine until recovery.

Also, sterilization is carried out in the department of the infected person to ensure the safety of those he came in contact with. The source affirmed that the law on exemption from work is clear and is according to the instructions of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for cases suffering from chronic diseases, especially asthma, problems in the respiratory system, high blood pressure and diabetes.

He indicated that all departments of the Ministry of Education implement health measures and deal with any case based on the specified procedures.

The source insisted that rumors about some of the infected employees continuing to report to work in some schools are false, calling for the need to stop spreading such rumors, exaggerating the crisis, and giving a picture to the society that schools are affected and unsafe to receive teachers and administrators.

He said the attendance of educational bodies in schools is a decision issued by the Ministry of Education and has convincing justifications for that, adding that all employees in this field must respect the ministerial decisions and be committed to the school hours.

The source stressed that the application of health guidelines and the rules of social distancing, as well as wearing masks in all departments and sections should not be neglected at any time. He indicated that the employees’ working time is rotated in most departments to ensure an attendance rate of no more than 50 percent.
