New minister succumbs to MPs’ demands

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: A new minister – of a technical ministry – has seconded more than 40 employees of no specific position in his office because of the pressure imposed on him by some MPs, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

Meanwhile, other sources affirmed that the rate at which ministers are succumbing to the demands of MPs has increased lately due to a series of threats related to interpellation with or without any ground.

They stressed that parliamentary questioning over everything irrespective of its significance has also been on a rise, which in turn obstructs the work in some of the ministries and causes the ministers to resort to appeasing the MPs through various means, notably through employment, appointment and secondment.
