Municipality teams seize 175-kg expired food products

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The Public Relations Department at Kuwait Municipality has announced that Shift B in the Violations Removal Department in the Capital branch of the Municipality carried out a number of inspection campaigns targeting restaurants and shops in Bneid Al-Gar and Shuwaikh Industrial Area.

In a press statement, the department revealed these campaigns resulted in confiscation of 95 kgs of expired food products, issuance of 48 citations, closure of a laundry shop in Bneid Al-Gar and a store in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, and issuance of five warnings to those who encroached on State properties and two warnings to houses where violations were uncovered.

The nutrition and markets monitor at the Audit and Follow Up Department in the Hawally branch also launched similar campaigns that led to the issuance of 127 citations, as well as confiscation and destruction of 941 kgs of food items including 830 kgs of pastry that had no production date, 108 kgs of chicken not fit for human consumption according to results of tests done in the central laboratory at the Ministry of Health, and 3 kgs of food products which did not conform to specifications.
