Municipality shuts Farwaniya mall

KUWAIT CITY, March 27: The Public Relations and Media Department of Kuwait Municipality disclosed that emergency teams have been carrying out inspections in restaurants, shopping malls and food stores throughout Farwaniya Governorate, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The department explained that emergency teams B and C from Farwaniya Municipality carried out campaigns for two days during which they confiscated and destroyed large quantities of expired food commodities and also discovered faeces of rats.

They also closed down a mall and issued a number of citations for a number of violations including violations of hygiene-related regulations and storage of expired commodities.

The Public Relations and Media Department urged owners of malls to keep a note of the expiry dates of the commodities they sell, and ensure they hand over expired products to Kuwait Municipality in order to destroy them, indicating that they will be held legally responsible otherwise. The department affirmed that such inspection campaigns that target violations will continue to be held.
