Municipality determined to pursue expats bachelors residing in private & model housing areas

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: The head of the committee which has been formed to follow up the phenomenon of bachelors housing in private areas, Deputy Director of Kuwait Municipality for the Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabir governorates Ammar Al-Ammar said the Municipality is determined to pursue bachelors in private and model housing areas, reports Al-Rai daily.

He stressed the committee will pursue these bachelors until these areas are vacated. He pointed out 70 percent of owners of real estate who have rented houses for bachelors have responded and interacted with the committee.

He added, until now 200 real estate buildings have been evacuated which were occupied by these bachelors and the power supply to 250 other buildings have been cut off, in addition to issuing warnings and citations to the owners of 270 real estate owners for violating the law.

Al-Ammar, during a TV program broadcasted in Al-Rai TV channel said the offence is considered a misdemeanor and the violator is fined KD 500 for first time, which increases to 1,000 dinars for the repetition of the offence, non-deterrent, which led to the Municipality submitted a project to raise the penalty and a fine.

He pointed out that the Municipality has excluded the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area temporarily as it includes a large number of bachelors and especially the region includes the Arab housing system which is designed to accommodate 15 to 21 people maximum in a single house but houses between 100 and 200 people
