Much ado about ‘One Love’ logo; Restaurant in Kuwait removes 15-year-old name

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 5: Concern about society’s values and ethics, and fear over the spread of some extraneous negative phenomena have turned into an obsession for a number of MPs, especially the Islamists. Social media activists recently followed a story that is not devoid of humor, and involves a restaurant in the country, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to the narrators, a restaurant next to a cooperative society raised a slogan in English titled “One Love”. In response, an activist broadcast a video recording in which he said, “The phrase written above the restaurant is the slogan of homosexuals and was used by the Dutch football team.” He called for the parliament’s Committee to Combat Negative Phenomena to play its role and take the necessary action regarding the matter.

A short time later, MP Mohammad Hayef Al-Bushra announced to his followers, “The slogan was removed and a violation was issued against the restaurant a few hours after the news was published. We thank the brothers in the municipality and its minister for the speedy response.”

Meanwhile, MP Jenan Boushahri said, “Cooperation between the two authorities is based on state issues, not individuals. It is cooperation that aims to build the country, support citizens, preserve public money, promote responsible freedoms, and combat corruption.”

As for the preoccupation of some ministers and their agencies with unreal issues with the aim of remaining in the ministerial chair and satisfying a parliamentarian, this is one of the forms of weakness that results in the future weakness of the entire government and destroys all bridges of cooperation.

Furthermore, one of the commentators on the subject said, “If you had searched Google for only ten seconds, you would have known the meaning and story behind the “One Love” logo. For your information, this has been the restaurant’s slogan for 15 years. He chose it because it offers only one type of food, which is chicken. Their slogan is dedicated to the lovers of this type of chicken. It has nothing to do with the homosexual slogan, neither from near nor from afar.
