Sabeeh urged to address irregularities

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: MP Khalid Al-Otaibi has proposed granting Jaber Hospital the authority to train Kuwaiti doctors in post-university stage. ■ Jaber University Hospital shall train Kuwaiti doctors in all medical specializations after completing the bachelor’s degree. The competent minister shall oversee organizational and technical matters.

■ Transfer supervision of Jaber University Hospital to the University of Sabah Al-Salem under the Ministry of Higher Education.

■ Jaber University Hospital should be under a specialized hospital management company supervised by the University of Sabah Al-Salem.

■ The hospital should be accredited according to standards recognized by Kuwait Institute for Health Specialties.

■ The medical staff shall be Kuwaitis with certificates of specialization in various medical fields.

■ In case of shortage of Kuwaiti medical personnel, the management of the hospital is allowed to hire highly qualified expatriates.

■ Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital shall train doctors to obtain bachelor’s degree only.

The College of Medicine at Kuwait University shall oversee the hospital. On the other hand, MP Khalil Al- Saleh has submitted a proposal to address the problems of Kuwaitis who experienced health problems or figured in accidents while they were staying abroad and then got infected when they returned to the country by sending them for overseas treatment.

In a press statement, the lawmaker explained his proposal obligates the State to include these citizens on the list of patients that the ministry sends abroad for treatment.

Meanwhile, MP Al-Humaidi Al- Subaie stressed the need for Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh to address irregularities and follow up issues mentioned in her interpellation. He said he will follow up the procedures and raise questions if his comments are not addressed, warning that he will not hesitate in grilling the minister again if the need arises.
