KUWAIT CITY, May 5: MP Faisal Al-Kandari has called on the Interior Ministry to tighten security in places where families gather, especially during holidays, concerts and other events.

In a press statement, the lawmaker also stressed the need for intensive police presence in public areas to quickly deal with reports from citizens and expatriates, considering the rising number of teenagers engaged in reckless activities like performing car stunts.

He praised the securitymen for the arrest of some people, including two officers, involved in indecent activities in Sabah Al-Ahmed.

He lauded Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammed Khalid’s decision to suspend the two officers until completion of the factfinding committee’s investigation. He believes these actions will restore people’s confidence in the ability of securitymen to protect them.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Kuwaiti Parliamentary Caucus MP Faisal Al-Shaya pointed out that the rapid changes in the world entail rigorous work to achieve sustainable development in order to provide for the needs of the people.

Al-Shaya made the statement Wednesday in the 14th Afro-Arab Parliamentary Conference in Ivory Coast. He thinks sustainable development necessitates innovative methods to cope with the rapid changes. He said this is possible through an effective partnership between Arab and African countries according to the principle of shared responsibility.

He added the Third Arab-African Summit held in Kuwait in 2013 affirmed the keenness of the wise political leadership of the country to further strengthen relations between the Arab and African nations.

The slogan, “Partners in Development and Investment,” in the 2013 summit showed that the leadership is fully aware of importance of economic cooperation, he asserted. He stressed that Kuwait is keen on maintaining friendly relations with Africa, achieve development goals and strengthen coordination in various fields
