MoSA records 97 violations of fundraising in nine days

70 donations kiosks removed

KUWAIT CITY, April 11: The Director of Charity Societies and Charity Associations Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA), Abdul-Azeer Al- Ajmi, announced 97 violations were detected in the matter of collecting donations and distributing iftar meals, during the first 9 days of Ramadan, reports Al- Qabas daily.

Al-Ajmi said from Ramadan 1 to Ramadan 9 this year, inspection teams carried out 680 field visits to mosques and 32 visits to the headquarters of charities and followed up on the distribution food packets by 7 charity organizations. He revealed that 109 clothes collecting booths were monitored and 70 were removed, in addition to removing a hoarding which called for donating blood money.

He pointed out 22 restaurants were monitored which called for donations for the benefit of fasting persons through the social media and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry was notified to take legal action. This is in addition to monitoring 11 charity hoardings. As for the rest of the violations, Al-Ajmi indicated 20 violations were monitored in mosques — advertisements for collecting donations to break the fast, and the implementation of many charitable projects, and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs was informed.
