MoI to hike patrols, erect checkpoints to prevent thefts, petty crimes

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The Under-secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Essam Al-Nham said the concerned authorities will follow instructions issued by the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt Gen Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah to ensure security in the country and particularly petty thefts and house break-ins by increasing police patrols around the clock in residential areas and erecting checkpoints in various places, reports Al-Anba daily.

The Public Relations and Security Media Department said in a statement the public security sector represented by security directorates and police stations in cooperation with the operations sector represented by the General Directorate of the Patrols, rescue police and Operations Department and the Criminal Security Sector represented by the Criminal Investigations Department will work hand in hand to provide security for citizens and residents.

The sources stressed the security is the responsibility of all and it is necessary to cooperate and coordinate through rapid exchange of information to take appropriate decisions so as not to give the miscreants the opportunity to carry out thefts and rob homes.

The sources said the Ministry of Interior calls upon every citizen and resident to bear responsibility and cooperate with the security personnel and report any suspicious movements through the ministry’s emergency telephone. The administration concluded by saying those who plan to stay away from home several days, for example during holidays, should inform the police station and as far as possible keep valuables such as jewelry in bank lockers.
