KUWAIT CITY, June 16: Ministry of Interior has made all preparations to activate the Immigration, Traffic and Residency Affairs departments, service centers, and other service sectors starting from Sunday at a 30 percent capacity as per government’s decisions, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to a reliable security source, most service departments and sectors will have a “WhatsApp” number to receive and respond to all inquiries as well as to book appointments for visiting these departments. In the next phase, work will be done electronically and all transactions will be completed online.

The General Traffic Department has started taking measures to work from Sunday by setting in place the necessary health requirements such as the need to wear face masks when visiting the department, and adhering to the social distancing policy.

During the COVID-19 crisis, the Ministry of Interior extended residency permits online until the end of August so that the residents would not face any problems through violation of the residency laws.

In addition, the General Traffic Department embarked on a process of handing over driving licenses to citizens and residents at Nasr Sports Club in order to reduce pressure on various traffic departments. Work is currently underway to issue vehicles new log books, transfer vehicle ownership and receive payment for “blocked” traffic violations.
