MoI takes steps to curb public use of drones

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: Ministry of Interior has taken a series of immediate measures against the use of drones and other aircraft that can be used for spying because they represent a risk to the national security, reports Al-Rai daily quoting security sources. They revealed that the ministry sent official letters to the Directorate General for Civil Aviation, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and General Customs Department, requesting banning the import of such aircraft without prior official written permission from Ministry of Interior.

Without the permission, such aircraft will be confiscated and importers will be referred to the relevant authorities. Director General for Public Relations and Security Media Department at Ministry of Interior Brigadier Adel Ahmad Al-Hashash explained that a 30 year-old Kuwaiti citizen was recently arrested for the ministry building using a remote-controlled drone and he is still under interrogation. The State Security Department will take necessary action against him in a few days based on the interrogation results.
