‘MoI continues to fight corruption, culprits will be punished, funds will be protected’

KUWAIT CITY, July 12: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour affirmed the ministry is continuing to fight corruption, in order to protect public funds and prosecute all those who have authorized themselves to embezzle, seize, or facilitate others, whether at the financial or administrative level, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In response to a question by MP Dr Hamoud Al-Khudair, Al-Mansour added, “We cooperate with ‘Nazaha’ the Anti- Corruption Authority, and in the event if any crime (corruption) is discovered at any stage of the contract between the ministry and any party, we provide Nazaha with the necessary information and documents for the Military Judicial Authority or the Legal Affairs Sector to conduct the necessary investigation.

He went on to say if “we have a suspicion of a crime, the matter is submitted to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense to stop the administrative investigation and refer the issue and the accused to the competent authorities in the country in coordination with the Fatwa and Legislation Department and notify the Ministerial Public Funds Protection Committee with all the details through periodic reports every six months. Al-Mansour stressed the ministry’s keenness to track financial violations and recover the public funds spent without right and refer the suspects to the public prosecutor.
