MoH sets up Pharmacovigilance Office

KUWAIT CITY, July 13: The Ministry of Health has established the Pharmacovigilance Office under the Drug Control Sector as part of its efforts to improve health care and drug safety, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily obtained a copy of the tasks assigned to the office as follows: receive reports on the side effects and quality of pharmaceutical preparations, evaluate reports and indicators, monitor the marketing of registered drugs, continuous assessment of the safety and quality of pharmaceutical preparations, monitor and evaluate the side effects of pharmaceutical preparations to find out their causes and present solutions, monitor relevant news from international bodies and organizations, take appropriate decisions regarding the safety of pharmaceutical preparations in circulation, and follow up reports on adverse effects and problems related to the quality of all health-related products like medicines, medical, pharmaceutical, vegetable and veterinary preparations, medical devices and equipment
