KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Health intends to implement the decision on allocating the morning shift for Kuwaitis and evening shift for expatriates in the outpatient units of public hospitals by the beginning of next year, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources explained the ministry took this step after the success of the trial implementation at Jahra Hospital for two years. Sources said the decision was issued during the tenure of former Health Minister Dr Mohamed Al- Haifi, indicating the Kuwaitis can choose between the morning and evening shifts even if the morning shift is allotted for them exclusively.

Sources revealed the ministry deems it appropriate to apply the decision due to the fact that most consultants and specialists work in the morning while taking into consideration the Kuwaitis who work in private companies in the evening. Sources confirmed all the necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the expatriates will not suffer from any deficiency in medical services during the evening shift since these services are already available for Kuwaitis
